The yearning to be with another person is as great as the yearning for food. Not just from hunger, although that does play a major role as passion and satiety, but rather from a deep, primitive place most cannot explain.
We continue our review of how the broad minded spiritual view of food and sexuality connects into the grand scheme of things. How this group (the liberal church and spiritual ilk), one of the three world views which include the conservative biblical moral view and ultra liberal view, raises its torch.
According to a 2014 Gallup poll, registered US liberal voters neared 24%. A good chunk of the American adult population with a liberal church that embraces out of wedlock co-habitation and support for the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community. Who share the spiritual view which embraces sex between two consenting adults beyond the need for any religious moral compass.
The Urban Influence
Most liberal, spiritual congregations reside in cities. Although the conservative right may view these cities akin to Sodom and Gomorrah, urban centers continue to act as the true melting pot for the broad minded spiritual view. Therefore, in such a diverse climate it is no wonder that all walks of life are, for the most part, embraced when it comes to a sexual partner. Also, urban centers attract continuous, progressive education allowing its citizens an opportunity to “think outside the box”. Add food to this mix and you may be able to sense a certain dichotomy when it comes to both.
A Parallel Obsession
In a 2014 article, Skepchick coins the comparison of how food is for white liberals to what sex is for the religious right.
This takes a look at how the liberal left has mounted a war on such food farming practices as GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms), non-organic, unclean water, and corporate mass production. In turn, such a “food war” has turned many liberals on to the likes of more freedom in food choices such as vegetarianism and veganism.
Whether anti-GMO, anti-non-organic, anti-corporation or anti-gay, anti-birth control, anti-pre-marital sex the mission is similar thus making food for white liberals to what sex is for the religious right.
How Liberals and Conservatives Eat
With an appetite for expanding one’s horizons, liberals show a more responsible track record when it comes to dietary intake. A Hunch.com small poll reported this mix of generalized liberal vs. conservative food choice comparisons.
Here’s their food for thought:
Liberals choose strawberry jelly
Conservatives choose grape jelly.
Liberals prefer thin crust pizza
Conservatives prefer deep dish or thick crust pizza.
Liberals are more likely to prepare a coconut curry with lamb and rice dish at home.
Conservatives choose grilled burgers or more comfort foods like meatloaf and mac-n-cheese.
Liberals choose hard to pronounce pastas like gnocchi (no-key) and fusilli (foo-seely).
Conservatives stick to the classics like spaghetti, linguine, and rotini.
Liberals are more likely to choose wine as their dinner beverage.
Conservatives choose milk, soda or juice.
Liberals are more likely to drink tap water.
Conservatives choose bottled water.
Liberals choose vegetarian and vegan diets.
Conservatives enjoy fast food and excessive meat consumption.
Liberals choose organic.
Conservatives are reported as seeing no difference between organic and non-organic.
The list goes on with a pretty predictable pattern.
Bedroom Fuel for Liberals
The penchant for liberals to adhere to a healthier, plant-based diet could be a driving factor in the bedroom ever since the sexual revolution of the 1960’s. Such a diet offers more blood flow to the “action areas” and more stamina. Liberals are also more open to the classic chocolate and whipped cream foods to enhance the sexual experience. There is also more experimentation using botanical lubes such as coconut oil; oral sex and mouth mints; drizzled honey; need we say more.
The open inded spiritual view of food and sexuality shows a wide range of inside and outside the bedroom comparisons.
